Attorney

Vicky Vreeland is recognized as one of the top trial lawyers and employment and civil rights attorneys in the state of Washington. She has represented numerous individuals in sexual abuse, employment and civil rights cases for age, disability, race, gender, equal pay, sexual orientation, religion and national origin discrimination and retaliation claims. She has negotiated severance agreements and brought cases against both large and small local and national corporations, government agencies, school districts, professionals, lawyers, judges, and nonprofit organizations.

She served as President of the Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ) for 2015-2016, to lead the state’s trial lawyer organization of more than 2,300 attorneys who represent those injured by the wrongdoing of others. She has been chair of the Washington Employment Lawyers Association (WELA), and has served as a Governor the Washington State Bar Association, and on its Disciplinary Board. She is a member of the Damage Attorneys Round Table (DART), served on the WSBA Labor & Employment Executive Committee, Federal Bar Association, American Association for Justice and National Employment Lawyers Association. In 2015, she was selected to serve on the Washington State Supreme Court Gender & Justice Commission.

Vicky is also a leader in representing businesses facing unfair practices, business misconduct, fraud, contract violations and more. She has and continues to represent the public interest on behalf of the Washington State Insurance Commissioner’s Office as Receiver in many insurance receiverships, recovering millions on behalf of policyholders, claimants, and consumers.

She secured the largest state federal jury verdict for a single employee against a corporate conglomerate in a gender discrimination/retaliation case in 1997 -- $11.7 million. She also secured a $19.3 million federal jury verdict against four defendants for criminal profiteering, civil conspiracy, unfair trade practices, misrepresentation and fraud in 2010, plus an award of more than $2 million for fees and costs.

Vicky was presented with the 2024 WSAJ Carl Maxey Award for sustained commitment to diversity in the profession and challenging discriminatory practices in the courts; the Outstanding Lawyer Award for 2020-2021 by the King County Bar Association; Trial Lawyer of the Year by WSAJ in 2007 and has been named Best Lawyers in America every year since 2009. She has consistently been named Top 50 Women Lawyers and a Super Lawyer by Washington Law and Politics since 2002, and Washington Top Lawyers by Seattle Met magazine. In April 2007, she received the Myra Bradwell Award from Gonzaga University School of Law Women’s Caucus for her pioneering legal work to protect the rights of Washington citizens and minorities.

Vicky Vreeland has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers® listings each year since 2009. And since 2009, she has maintained the highest rating of “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell.

Prior to starting her own law firm, Vicky was a partner at Gordon Thomas Honeywell LLP, a major law firm in Seattle/Tacoma. She also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Washington State Attorney General’s Office as Chief of the Crime Victims Compensation Section, Department of Labor & Industries and in the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Division.

She was the first woman judicial clerk for the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division III. She is a graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, Summa Cum Laude, and received the Law’s Dean Award. She graduated with a B.A. from Eastern Washington State University, Summa Cum Laude.

Vicky resides in Redmond. In her spare time, she plays piano and often performs at public events and nursing homes. She loves baseball and attending Seattle Mariners games at T-Mobile Park.
